On 4 June 2026, the Chief of the Health Center (Kepala Pusat Kesehatan) of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), Major General dr. Hadi Juanda, visited EHI’s laboratory upon invitation from EHI Commissioner Prof. Dr. Ir. Dadan Umar Daihani. The visit aimed to introduce EHI’s research mission, ongoing activities, and facilities, as well as to explore potential collaboration between EHI and the TNI Health Center (Puskes TNI). This collaboration would involve supporting integrated military health services, including recruitment, training, and healthcare development operations. One key discussion in the meeting was the potential development of a malaria vaccine to protect TNI personnel deployed to malaria-endemic regions in Indonesia, especially the eastern provinces of the country.
During the visit, the TNI Health Center expressed appreciation for EHI’s research capabilities and welcomed the opportunity to establish future collaboration, including possible joint research initiatives beyond malaria. Both parties agreed to begin formalizing cooperation through a Memorandum of Understanding as a first step toward a long-term partnership. The visit concluded positively, marking the start of a strengthened engagement between EHI and Puskes TNI to advance health research that supports national defense and operational readiness. EHI believes that advancing health research and innovation can strengthen Indonesia’s military capabilities by improving health protection, disease prevention, and medical readiness for military personnel.
