A hands-on training on the use and calibration of spectrophotometers was conducted by LabMania to support laboratory and industrial professionals who routinely work with this essential analytical instrument. The training covered the fundamental principles of spectrophotometer operation, key components of the instrument, and practical guidance on performing intermediate calibration independently, without relying on vendor support. The primary objective was to strengthen users’ technical competence so they can routinely verify instrument performance and maintain accurate measurement results.
Held on 15 December 2025 at LabMania Coworking Space, Summarecon Bekasi, the session was attended by Lydia Visita Panggalo. During the training, participants gained practical skills in conducting intermediate calibration procedures, including checks on wavelength accuracy, wavelength setting repeatability, resolution, stray light, photometric accuracy and repeatability, baseline stability, baseline flatness, and noise level. The training also reinforced best practices for cleaning the spectrophotometer, identifying which components should be cleaned after each use, and which parts should be routinely inspected before operation.
In addition, the vendor and trainer ensured that participants had a clear understanding of how the spectrophotometer works and how to optimally use its features according to specific analytical needs. EHI believes that regular training in spectrophotometer use and user-performed intermediate calibration is essential to ensuring measurement accuracy, maintaining instrument reliability, and building long-term confidence in laboratory and industrial analytical results.
