EHI and Biogenome Total Solusi hosted a seminar titled \u201cMasa Depan Genomik: Kesuksesan Pertama Sekuensing Sel Tunggal di Indonesia” or \u201cThe Future of Genomics: The First Successful Use of Single-Cell Sequencing in Indonesia.” The event took place on June 5, 2024, at Millennium Hotel Sirih Jakarta, aiming to introduce Indonesian researchers to the advanced single-cell RNA sequencing technology and its applications in infectious disease research.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Since 2021, EHI has been at the forefront of integrating single-cell RNA sequencing technology in Indonesian research. This seminar, supported by 10x Genomics and Biogenome Total Solusi, was a significant milestone, as it marked the first application of this technology in infectious disease research within the country. The event featured the launch of an optimized protocol for single-cell RNA sequencing, developed by EHI.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Significantly, this event also marked the launch of Indonesia\u2019s first-ever single-cell RNA sequencing protocol, developed and optimized by EHI\u2019s in-house research team. This protocol sets a national precedent for researchers seeking to apply single-cell technologies across diverse biomedical fields and opens the door for local capacity building in precision medicine and immunogenomics.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The seminar had several key objectives: introduce the application of single-cell sequencing in immunology and infectious diseases; explore infectious disease research from a broader perspective with insights from collaborators at the National University of Singapore (NUS); share success stories of single-cell sequencing applications; and launch the optimized protocol for single-cell sequencing. The seminar included insightful presentations from experts, including Dr. Lim Tingsen Benson from 10x Genomics and Dr. Thinesshwary Yogarajah from National University of Singapore (NUS). EHI\u2019s CEO, Frilasita Aisyah Yudhaputri also presented on characterizing the immune profile of pediatric COVID-19 patients with MIS-C using single-cell technology.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The seminar saw high engagement from participants, including representatives from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), the Ministry of Health, universities, the National Institute of Health Research and Development, Jakarta regional laboratory personnel, and other related institutions. The event successfully achieved its objectives by enhancing awareness and knowledge about single-cell RNA sequencing among Indonesian researchers. It also marked a significant achievement for EHI, as the first user of this technology for infectious disease research in Indonesia.
