EHI had the honor of hosting the Penasihat Khusus Presiden Bidang Pertahanan Nasional or Presidential Special Advisor on National Defense, General (Ret.) Prof. Dr. Dudung Abdurachman, S.E., M.M., during an official visit to our institution. The visit underscored the government’s growing recognition of the link between national defense preparedness and health security resilience.
The program began with a guided tour of EHI’s laboratory facilities, where the delegation observed ongoing work in molecular diagnostics, pathogen discovery, and biosafety systems. The tour showcased EHI’s integrated capabilities in handling emerging and re-emerging infectious agents, emphasizing the importance of scientific readiness in mitigating biological threats.
Following the tour, a discussion session was held to share insights on how EHI’s research and innovation contribute to strengthening Indonesia’s biosecurity framework, aligning with national priorities in defense and public health. The dialogue also highlighted the need for cross-sectoral collaboration between defense, health, and technology institutions to support rapid detection and coordinated response to biological incidents. The Presidential Advisor commended EHI’s initiatives in contributing to the nation’s capacity for bio-preparedness and One Health-based resilience.
