In 2024, the world faced an alarming rise in dengue cases, with over 14 million active infections and over 9 thousand deaths globally, doubling the previous numbers. It was recorded that Asia was the epicenter of this public health threat, bearing 70% of the global dengue burden. The 8th Asia Dengue Summit in 2025 in Manila, Philippines, brought together over 700 participants from 22 countries, including researchers, policymakers, and health professionals, to exchange knowledge and strengthen global efforts toward achieving “zero dengue deaths.”
Three researchers from the EHI, Marsha, Denis, and Bunga, presented their latest dengue study findings through scientific posters during the summit. EHI’s participation in this international forum has strengthened its scientific capacity in dengue research and updated its team on current developments in diagnostics, vaccines, policies, and cross-sectoral collaboration. By engaging with experts across Asia and beyond, EHI continues to play an active role in the regional fight against dengue and reaffirms its commitment to advancing science-driven public health strategies.
