EHI recently conducted a hands-on training session for a new user on measuring glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) activity using the SD Biosensor G6PD Analyzer medical device. This training is part of EHI’s ongoing commitment to strengthening diagnostic capacity and raising awareness of G6PD deficiency, a common genetic condition that can have significant implications for patient care, particularly in malaria-endemic regions.
During the session, the participants were introduced to the principles of G6PD activity testing, proper sample handling, and step-by-step operation of the analyzer. The practical approach ensured that the trainee understood the scientific background of the test but also gained the technical confidence to perform accurate and reliable measurements in real-world settings. Through this initiative, EHI aims to expand local expertise in diagnosing G6PD deficiency and support safer, more informed treatment decisions. By equipping healthcare and laboratory personnel with essential diagnostic skills, EHI continues to promote early detection and improve health outcomes, while contributing to broader efforts in genetic disease awareness and precision public health.
