Marcelino Pandin, Commissioner of EHI, served as a featured speaker at the Global Zero Waste Forum held from 5–7 June 2026. The invitation was extended by Türkiye’s First Lady Emine Erdoğan, who serves as the Founder and Honorary President of the foundation. Zero Waster Forum is an international platform that brings together government leaders, researchers, industry representatives, and civil society organizations to advance sustainable resource management, circular economy practices, and climate action through zero waste initiatives. His participation underscored EHI’s commitment to promoting evidence-based solutions that address pressing environmental and public health challenges. As one of the leading international gatherings on sustainability, the forum provides a platform for policymakers, researchers, industry leaders, and civil society organizations to exchange best practices, discuss emerging innovations, and strengthen partnerships that accelerate the global transition toward a circular economy and zero waste future.
During his session, Commissioner Pandin shared Asia Pacific’s experiences and emerging opportunities in integrating innovation, scientific research, and cross-sector collaboration to support sustainable development. He highlighted the challenges and strategic pathways for establishing effective multi-level governance structures and mechanisms, strengthening science-based capacity building through the latest technologies, and developing innovative financing schemes. These interventions underscored the importance of promoting circular green and blue economies, enhancing science-driven efficiency in food and energy systems, and safeguarding environmental ecosystems in line with global sustainability commitments. EHI believes that sustainable development is best achieved through evidence-based innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and strong partnerships that translate scientific knowledge into practical solutions for communities and the environment.
