EHI Contributes to Scientific Discussions on Vector-Borne Diseases and Public Health

On 21–22 April 2026, Dr. Benediktus Yohan Arman, Research Fellow at EHI, participated in the Scientific Discussion on Vector-Borne Disease Research organized by the Vector-Borne and Zoonotic Disease Research Group of Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (BRIN) Center for Public Health and Nutrition Research in Salatiga, Central Java. The event brought together researchers, local government representatives, healthcare institutions, and public health stakeholders to discuss ongoing research on vector-borne diseases, including dengue and zoonotic malaria. Presentations from BRIN researchers highlighted current research activities, while discussions emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration in addressing infectious disease challenges.

Furthermore, the meeting also highlighted EHI’s contribution to supporting dengue and other vector-borne disease research through its ongoing collaboration with BRIN. On the following day, researchers from BRIN and EHI visited Salatiga Regional Hospital to discuss plans for an e-Asia Joint Call research project on encephalitis-causing viruses. The hospital leadership welcomed the initiative and expressed support for future research activities. This participation is part of EHI’s mission to strengthen partnerships between research institutions and healthcare facilities that are essential for improving infectious disease surveillance, strengthening diagnostic capacity, and advancing evidence-based public health responses in Indonesia.
