Bioinformatics Data Analysis Workshop for Infectious Disease Surveillance at BBTKLPP Yogyakarta 12-13 December 2022
EXEINS Health Initiative (EHI) and Balai Besar Teknik Kesehatan Lingkungan dan Pengendalian Penyakit (BBTKLPP) Yogyakarta, unit pelaksana teknis Direktorat Jenderal Pencegahan dan Pengendalian Penyakit, Kementerian Kesehatan Republik Indonesia, organized a certified bioinformatics data analysis workshop to address the need to enhance DNA sequencing data analysis in infectious disease surveillance. The workshop was attended by medical entomologists, medical epidemiologists, and medical laboratory officers from BBTKLPP Yogyakarta.
The workshop – presented by experts from EHI: Edison Johar, M.Sc. and Edwin Sutanto, MSc(Bioinf) – involved intensive lectures, a hands-on, and a case discussion, covering tailored topics such as: effects of genome mutations on pathogen characteristics, Sanger sequencing, Sanger sequencing data analysis, and phylogenetics.
