On September 11, 2024, EHI attended an Amazon Web Services (AWS) workshop hosted by BB Binomika, Ministry of Health. AWS introduced how the platform supports large-scale genomics projects with flexible storage, computing, and secure data sharing. The system can help researchers collaborate and manage data in one place. The hands-on session showed how to use AWS tools for real bioinformatics tasks, including AWS HealthOmics for easier analysis.
EHI also joined the seminar Harnessing Long Read Sequencing for Answering Priority Health Concerns, hosted by BB Binomika and Genomik Solidaritas Indonesia (GSI). Experts shared how long-read sequencing, especially with Oxford Nanopore’s adaptive sampling, helps decode complex DNA regions. Participants practiced setting up and running real-time sequencing using ONT software. EHI believes that such partnerships will speed up the use of cloud-based solutions in genomics research and these insights will drive innovation and improve health outcomes through advanced genomics in Indonesia.
